“RL is a member of the record-setting R&B trio NEXT.” That is one of the many famous descriptions you hear when you mention RL’s name. This iconic creator has been a
quiet voice and hand behind some of the popular music we enjoy daily. He is the producer/writer of songs by musical icons that we all know from, Usher, Jamie Foxx, Luther
Vandross, Lil Duval to other big names like Destiny’s Child, Big Pun, Tupac, Keith Sweat, and countless others.
 RL is an underdog that has crafted and shaped other artists who created a musical
sound. As an acclaimed artist, he has contributed to a creative force that drove him to get better at his craft.


Born in Minnesota, RL’s experienced the 1980's revolution of R&B and other genres of music in America.

Since then,  a part of moving the R&B culture forward a songwriter, a soloist, and a significant influence on the American music industry.

Solo Career 

Venturing out of the group, NEXT, RL launched his critically acclaimed debut album entitled RL "EMENTS” on J Records. He then went on to collaborate with Deborah Cox
on her gold single “We Can’t Be Friends,” and was also part of the single for the movie Best Man Soundtrack -“Best Man” alongside Ginuwine, Tyrese, and Case.

Taking a break from the limelight, the songwriter has been working behind the scenes to bring you songs like ‘Bring Your Heart To Mine’ – Luther Vandross, ‘Come Here’ - J. Holiday, ‘Forecast’ – Jamie Foxx, ‘U R The One’ - Usher, ‘Just In Case’ and ‘Anything’ – Jaheim, and 'Valentine's Girl' - Mindless Behavior.


While taking a hiatus from the group he continued to maximize on his craft alongside producers like Jazze Pha, B. Cox, Kaygee, Battleroy, The Underdogs, Soulshock & Karlin, Oak & Pop, Saint Nick, Battlecat, Walter Milsap, DJ Quik, Allstar, Teddy Riley, Chad Elliot and Shep Crawford, The Ambassadors, and Tim & Bob. Undoubtedly, many may not know the significant influence RL has continuously brought to the table, but he has been working hard behind the scenes and feeling like there is no better time than now to reemerge as a solo artist.



Current Projects

RL is going harder than ever. He is currently in the studio working on his solo album entitled  

‘THE PROCESSION’ which he states will give a sexy and confident feel while telling the story of his journey, the ups, the downs, the good, the bad, and the ugly. The singer/songwriter is also taking dates for his national and international tour to promote his new project. Now, ladies and gentlemen, if you couldn't tell, with his incredible talent, focus, and determination, it is easy to see that he's here to stay.
